A challenging and supportive environment in which to further your self-directed painting practice. Group discussion and plenty of personal attention will enable you to better understand and develop your artistic vision. Already excited with your current direction? Come develop it – push it further. Stuck? Come get unblocked in a creative, non-threatening environment. Starting out? Come explore the vast array of options and start to find your path, your voice. This course is both safe haven and launching point: personal expression and growth are paramount, and at every turn, you will be encouraged to hear and trust your own inner compass in boldly exploring new directions. Each session begins with a brief look at the work of a particular artist or movement as inspiration, and if desired, individual challenges can be set in consultation one-on-one with the instructor

IN OUR GALLERIES
Exhibition Duration: March 20th – April 9th, 2017
One after the other includes abstract paintings that emphasize created spaces and minimalist actions. Working in process-driven methods, marks are made intuitively, obsessively repeated—one after the other—to create paintings that fulfil a wordless satisfaction. Featuring paintings from emerging artists Julia Szabo, Shannon Taylor-Jones, and Janine Wheeler, this range of work illustrates complementary yet diverse forms of contemporary abstraction.
One after the other brings together different approaches to abstraction that share commonalities in execution and intention. These pieces follow a common theme of simplicity while engaging in a conversation of difference.
Exhibition Duration: March 20th – April 9th, 2017
Flux is a photography exhibition which features work by Jennifer Ribout of J. K. Ribout Photography and Rileigh Sabourin of Rileigh Sabourin Photography. This exhibition presents three series of work titled Flux, Essence andVitality.
Flux is a collaborative series by both photographers. It is an abstracted interpretation of water and its constant natural state of change. Essence features a series of landscape photographs that reveals the beauty of nature through simplicity captured through Jennifer’s lens. Vitality captures a journey of one’s self; Rileigh’s self. This series reflects multiples characters that are fictional but a part of Rileigh’s underlying personality. Giving these characters the power to speak in these photographs, there is a sense of emotional auras that are unique to each one

Paul Antonio is coming to town on April 8th! In a lecture-demonstration, well-known English scribe Paul Antonio will introduce us to a new way to approach Copperplate script step by step. This method is structured around a historical understanding of the script stripped down to its geometry and other essentials. Paul Antonio will also spend time looking at any issues we may be struggling with in Copperplate and will lead us through how to ‘flourish’ in a beautiful and balanced way. His method will be published by Speedball soon! More details coming on the NPCC website. Limited seating.
