Neilson Park Creative Centre welcomes members and community members alike to experience our upcoming Speakers Series events. This spring, NPCC will host free public talks in partnership with its Resident Groups. We hope you will join us in learning from these talented creators and appreciators of art.
Egg to Grave with Susan Eckenwalder
In partnership with The Etobicoke Art Group Wednesday, Apr. 12, 2017 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm Studio-A. FREE. Susan Eckenwalder, a visual artist, will discuss various methods and motivations behind her work as well as include odd facts and some insight into image selection.

Youth Studio: Drawing with Louise Zych
Saturdays 1:00pm – 4:00pm
April 22 – June 24, 2017 (no class May 20 & June 10) 8 weeks
Emerging artists welcome! Explore various drawing media as you sharpen your skills with pen and ink, conté, coloured pencil and more. Each class is designed to stimulate your art-making muscles. For youth applying to secondary or post-secondary schools, each class will support you in building a strong portfolio. Materials included.

Imagining Peace: Walking Labyrinths
Exhibition Duration: April 10th – April 30th, 2017
Exhibition Reception: Saturday, April 22nd, from 12 pm – 4 pm
Imagining Peace: Walking Labyrinths is a solo exhibition featuring work by Bruce Parsons. This exhibition which came together starting in 2012 focuses on the use of wide range of materials, mural paintings, objects, watercolour on paper, video and installation. In the last five years he has worked around the idea of accelerated time related to communication, and the way human perceives the world in our everyday life. He has used the image of the labyrinth in the context of facing the chaos in the world at the present time.
Parsons invites participants to be a part of the discussion that explores the notion of non-objective painting during his artist talk on Tuesday, April 18th from 7 pm – 9 pm. RSVP on Facebook or by calling the Office
The Sound of Life
Exhibition Duration: April 10th – April 30, 2017
Exhibition Reception: Tuesday, April 11th 6 pm – 9 pm
The Sound of Life features oil paintings by Oleg Churylov that is an artistic expression about individual events, episodes, scenes of life, our spiritual experiences, dreams, nature around us.
The inspirations for Churylov’s pieces started as a child in the distant city of Baku. He has been seeking these experiences through different facets of his life as an engineer, businessman, an author and finally as an artist.
