The Calligraphic Arts Guild of Toronto invites you to an introduction of beautiful writing. Experienced instructors, Mark Lurz and Ramona Matthews, will guide you through the steps of writing with pen and ink. Learn about the different scripts of Western Culture and how calligraphy is used to write a personal card or name tag. Pen and ink will be provided. You can also purchase pens and paper during this workshop.

An invitation to play and practice! This workshop is an introduction to the Fair Isle technique. Join Diane as she guides you through demonstrations, samples of work and a discussion about technique. Diane is a member of the Toronto Knitters Guild, the Toronto Guild of Spinners and Weavers and the Etobicoke Hand Weavers and Spinners Guild. Materials list available.

Drop-In: $20 member, $25 non-member (with HST: $22.60, $28.25)

No instructor. For independent and/or experienced artists. Expand your repertoire and explore the joys of designing with the figure. Drawing and water-based media (no oils).

Spring to Attention

Come check out our Member’s Choice Exhibition featuring multi-media artwork from all resident group members at Neilson Park, including the Calligraphers Art Guild of Toronto, Etobicoke Art Group, Humber Valley Art Club, Etobicoke Handweavers and Spinners, the Etobicoke Rugcrafters, and the Etobicoke Quilters.

Where I Lay My Head

Exhibition Reception: May 2nd from 7:00 - 9:00pm

Every year the Etobicoke Hand Weavers and Spinners Guild’s executive poses a challenge to their members. This year they asked their members to embellish a 12"x12" pillow. The members could use any weaving, knitting or felting technique that they desired. They were encouraged to take this opportunity to try a new technique or weaving pattern. This exhibition also showcases other pieces the members have created throughout the year.

Jane Geard - Printmaking/Collage & Beyond  -Wednesday, May 3, 10, 17  ($120)  10 - 3:30 p.m.

Jane Geard's work is influenced and inspired by patterns in nature. You will use found materials, oriental paper or old artworks, create your personal collage, then enhance your work further with printmaking.  This workshop will include plate building & monoprint making.  If available, students may bring their own collage materials, acrylic plates, paper, paint, printing inks, pens and crayons, brayer, marking tools, UHU glue stick etc.  

Jane is an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists, the Society of Canadian Artists and the Colour and Form Society. She is a popular instructor and welcomes students at all levels.  

Pauline Holancin - Watercolour  -  Wednesday, May 24 & 31  ($80)  10 - 3:30 p.m.

Pauline will demonstrate her love of the Canadian landscape and spring flowers, in her easy and relaxed manner.  The workshop will focus on composition, simplification of subject matter and the bold use of colour and design elements.  

Pauline is an elected member of the CSPWC, a signature members of the TWS and a founding member of the Vodka Painters of Ontario.  This workshop is suitable for students at all levels.
