SUMMER CAMP
 
Our camps support a creative learning environment where participants are encouraged to explore and enrich their lives through the arts.
 
PARTICIPANT INFORMATION

 

Schedule:

Each Camper will participate in activities within the arts, as well as participate in some recreational activities each day, in our indoor and outdoor spaces! Our camps are facilitated Monday – Fridays from 9:00am – 4:00pm, unless otherwise specified. Extended care is available each week for an additional fee. Campers and camp staff welcome parents/guardians to attend an end of week art show every Friday at 3:30pm!

 

Below is what a typical camp day looks like here at NPCC:

7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Extended care
8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Arrival/ Morning circle
9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Arts activity lead by a professional arts educator
10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Snack
10:30 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. Arts activity lead by a professional arts educator
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Lunch/ Outdoor free time (weather permitting)
12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Arts activity lead by a professional arts educator
1:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Snack
2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Arts activity lead by a professional arts educator
3:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. Group Games/ Activities
3:45 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Closing Circle/ Dismissal
4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Extended Care

 

What to Bring: 

Campers should wear comfortable clothes that can get messy! We suggest packing a change of clothes and/or a smock, just in case. Campers should bring a reusable water bottle, hat, sunscreen, closed shoes/sandals, and nut free snacks and a lunch. Lunches should be ready-to-eat, as there is no access to kitchen appliances. Campers are encouraged not to bring personal toys as we have lots of supplies on hand. Cell phones are to be safely stowed away and only used for emergencies. Please note that NPCC is not responsible for lost/stolen or damaged items.

 

 

Health and Safety:

All campers must have a completed health and general waiver form prior to the first day of camp. This form is available on our website or in person. Campers must be signed-in every morning and signed-out every afternoon by a parent/guardian listed on the health and general waiver form. Photo identification will be requested at every sign-out, for your child’s safety. Parents/guardians must review any medication with the Programs Coordinator prior to the first day of camp. If a camper becomes ill, the parent/guardian will be notified, if the parent/guardian is not available, the emergency contact will be contacted.

 

Staff Training:

Camp staff members include the Programs Coordinator, camp counsellors, professional arts instructors, and volunteers. Staff participate in comprehensive preparation prior to the start of camp that includes Standard First Aid, HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development, and inclusion and support training.

 

Code of Conduct:

NPCC is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and positive environment. By participating in Neilson Park Creative Centre programming you are agreeing to adhere to our Code of Conduct. Visit our website to learn more. Camp staff with go over rules and expectations for the week, failure to comply with the Code of Conduct may lead to dismissal from camp.

 

 
imagineTHAT! NPCC Young Creators’ Exhibition:
NPCC welcomes campers to submit their artwork into our annual exhibition highlighting young creators. Simply complete a submission form and leave your artwork with us at the end of the day on Fridays. Exhbition Dates TBA. 
Scholarships:
Camper scholarships may be available. Qualified applicants must submit a complete application to be considered. Preference will be given to first-time applicants. Spaces are limited and based on availability.
