Exhibition Duration: May 29 – June 17, 2018
Opening Reception: Saturday, June 2 from 2 – 4pm*
Careless Remnants refers to the negative effects of human activity left behind on the earth. Often (but not always) these effects are unintentional. They are usually ugly, cause the earth harm, and are regretful consequences of human action. ‘Take only photos, and leave only footprints’ is a commonly known phrase related to healthy stewardship of the planet. This exhibit looks at the consequences of the actions that do not adhere to this principle. Legg is interested in how these impacts affect the earth and the community of humans who inhabit it. She finds this topic to be strangely appealing due to its ugliness, and timely in the necessity that these effects be halted or reversed.
The Hook and I
Exhibition Duration: May 29 – June 17, 2018
The Hook and I Hall Show showcases work completed by the Etobicoke Rugcrafters, a branch of The Ontario Hooking Craft Guild. Items on display include various rug hooking styles: traditional, primitive and modern. Featured this year are hooked items in the style of stained glass.
Marie A. Prospero
Exhibition Duration: May 1 - June 29, 2018
Marie's Mailbox paintings are meant to be personalized by writing a name on the Mailbox which can be done on pickup. Each painting is a hand painting original. They are a great gift and can be made to fit any commercial frame in a variety of sizes from 8 x 10 to 16 x 20 inches. The hand painted scarves are 100% silk. The variations are caused by the salt on different hues. Then they are wrapped in tissue and steamed for 45 minutes to set the colours and finally washed by hand. Marie’s pendants are hand sculpted of clay and painted in gold.
