Humber Valley Art Club
Humber Valley Art Club has enjoyed a long and rich history in the visual arts since its founding in Etobicoke in 1951. It offers a diversity of classes and workshops in watercolour, acrylic and multi-media for artists at all skill levels. We provide a welcoming milieu in which to meet other artists, share ideas and expand your skills. Since 1993, HVAC has been a Resident Group at Neilson Park Creative Centre.
Classes and Workshops:
Our classes and workshops run from September to May on Mondays and Wednesdays. We are so fortunate to be able to paint in Studio A, a bright and spacious studio at NPCC featuring large north-facing windows overlooking the parkland scenery.
On Mondays we offer half-day classes for beginner and intermediate students, while Wednesdays are primarily for intermediate/advanced full-day workshops. The annual online HVAC Workshop Brochure, found on our website, presents our complete program information along with sample paintings from the many excellent instructors who present our monthly series of exciting classes and workshops.
Benefits of Membership in HVAC & NPCC:
HVAC members have the opportunity to showcase their work in two annual shows: the November Members’ Choice Show, followed in the spring with our Annual Juried Exhibition which includes a reception and awards ceremony. In September we socialize with a buffet lunch at our AGM, while in December HVAC members are invited to enjoy celebrating the season at a festive Holiday luncheon.
We also provide the opportunity for members to take part in Monday Drop-In painting in Studio A during our operating season, for those who wish to paint independently along with other members.
NPCC membership has many perks, including a 10% discount at a variety of art stores and free admission to participating galleries. There are many other benefits which are listed on the NPCC membership page.
Memberships in HVAC & NPCC are required to participate in all HVAC activities. However, we will waive the membership fee for newcomers who wish to “give us a try” for one class series or a workshop series.
