This engaging art course aims to cultivate a clear understanding of fundamental artistic concepts such as line, form, texture, colour combination, and dimension through innovative and relaxed mixed media projects. Each class will provide students with the opportunity to create a unique piece of artwork. Our experienced instructor will offer clear guidance and focused prompts to help students learn various techniques while becoming familiar with different painting and crafting materials. Through targeted exercises, students will also gain a grasp of essential artistic terminology. For example, one project will explore projection and shadow casting, allowing students to creatively transform objects related to this theme, deepening their understanding of light, shadow, and space. Another project will challenge students to shape a single piece of wire into a portrait contour, emphasizing the concept of creating form with just one continuous line. Additionally, students will reshape flat cardboard into three-dimensional forms, creating textured surfaces that enhance their understanding of three-dimensional structures and architectural design. Rather than focusing solely on traditional drawing techniques, this course encourages students to broaden their appreciation of various visual art elements. By doing so, they will build a solid foundation that allows them to translate abstract concepts into practical skills, enhancing their overall art-making process.
