Participants will work on evolving figure drawings into distilled shapes through the process of simplification and abstraction to create geometric three-dimensional objects. Using a creative method of rigid paper corrugation, students will learn a variety of folding techniques, and will able to achieve balanced and dynamic structural forms that can interact with the environment in which they are displayed through the elements of colour, texture, pattern and light. Participants can bring in references to create their piece which can include photos, sketches, drawings, or paintings. Reference images will also be provided by the instructor as inspiration. David Brown has built a 30+ year career in the global art and design industry, earning multiple awards for his outstanding contributions. He has taught Industrial Design at OCADU for 10 years and is dedicated to creating valuable networking opportunities for established and emerging artists. His works adorn private and corporate collections in North America, Europe, and Asia, while the products he designed have enjoyed successful sales across the continent.
