In this fun two-session workshop, students will explore the use of vibrant colour coupled with gesture to articulate new forms. As Alistair opens each session with looking at artists like Pierre Bonnard, Joan Mitchell, Howard Hodgkin, and Albert Irvin, who distil painting to its essential elements and celebrate colour as the way to truly express the soul, participants will receive inspiration and education with an enthusiastic instructor. Students will be supported through practices with gestural mark- making, paint viscosity, and the power of colour to develop new forms of expression. Alistair Magee, MFA is an internationally collected artist and contributor to permanent public art in Toronto. For a materials list, please check our website.
