Utilizing and placing the figure in the landscape can be very effective in creating a powerful painting. This can be seen in both historical and contemporary fine art practice. With this in mind, the course will focus on activities of creating strong compositions based on landscape and/or interiors with a view inspired by great masters past and present. This is a fascinating opportunity to work from travel photos, family/personal nostalgia imagery and memory. Initial active grounds of your compositions may be a single source or a hybrid of diverse inspiration from artists such as David Hockney, Rose Hilton, Matisse, Mary Frank, Richard Diebenkorn and Canadian Kim Dorland. Join this class for a unique experience that will be exciting, challenging and that will evoke something new and different. For a materials list, please check our website.
