This wonderful weekend session with MFA Scholar and established artist Yuqian, encourages children to take inspiration from real life with creative prompts and plenty of fun and encouragement. Participants will create visual narrative artworks like character design, or a combination of story book or graphic novel illustration and creative writing. The instructor will bring different objects and ‘inspiration triggers’ to each class and will impart observation and skills support to encourage creative thought and an adventurous spirit. Children may explore wildlife, the texture and colour of sliced open fruits and vegetables, depict the adventure of a seed, invent their supernatural power, create future architecture design or fast-forward to their 50-year-old selves! The element of the unexpected is encouraged as this course focuses more on stimulating children’s creativity rather than training their drawing skills. Students are free to use any art medium they find suitable for expressing their ideas and are encouraged to connect at the end of each class to share their artwork and story with each other. All materials are included.
