This is an intermediate to advanced artistsÂ’ course focusing on mastering a specific realm of realism painting. Yuqian, is an award winning and internationally collected Watercolour Artist and published MFA scholar. She will teach her technique of observation, analysis of light and shadow, and varying ways of achieving the surface likeness of worn or draped fabric and costume. Exercises will include depicting various fabric textures, weights, printed surface and hand as well as advanced-level techniques in painting lace and embroidery. A focus on how fabrics move, break against the body and how to suggest posture of the subject under fabric will be provided. Other topics will include considerations of floor puddling, gravity and other adjacent surfaces and how light travels along the seams of juxtaposed surfaces. Clothed models or figures may be present.
