Get to know watercolour. In this session, students are able to sample and explore a variety of basic watercolour applications such as how to create an attractive wash and base colour selection. They will have the chance to learn techniques such as wet-in-wet and wet-on-dry painting, scumbling and texturization to achieve the effects seen in successful watercolour compositions. Using provided paints and quality watercolour paper, participants will be able to experiment with brush strokes, paint saturation and colour mixing, and will be provided with examples of how to plan a painting in accordance with drying times required to achieve certain results. registrants will enjoy plenty of support as they paint a landscape, a floral, a broad sky and seascape, or a local forest scene. As a final step, students will be given the opportunity to add fine details using inks and markers to enhance those areas they wish to develop or create a focal point. Photo references are welcome and options will also be made available by the instructor. All materials are included.
