Silverpoint, a historical drawing medium that flourished during the Renaissance, captivates artists with its precision and permanence. Masters like Da Vinci and Raphael used silverpoint to create stunning figure drawings and studies, producing fine lines that remain sharp and clear even after centuries. This unique medium, which has largely been replaced by graphite, offers textures and qualities that modern pencils cannot replicate. This engaging 3-session workshop led by instructor Yuqian Sun, is designed for adults with some basic drawing experience who are eager to explore the ancient technique of silverpoint drawing. Participants will learn the significance of this classical drawing tool and will learn hatching techniques to create texture and depth. A comparative study period will be offered to analyse the differences between silverpoint and modern drawing tools, enhancing your appreciation for both. By the end of the workshop, you will have created three small silverpoint drawings that reflect your personal style. This is a wonderful opportunity to deepen your drawing skills and connect with a fascinating art form!
