Location: At Centre
Sessions: 1 Sunday
Instructor: Mark Seabrook
Level: All Levels

Adults are invited to join in this all-levels workshop with Anishinaabe artist Mark Seabrook to learn about Woodland Style art, Indigenous culture and Anishinaabe traditional teachings and stories from Manitoulin Island. The group will focus on the significance of the bear as a symbol of safety, security and protection, and learn about the Bear Clan as guardians of the communities and carriers of medicines. This Autumn season, as bears are preparing to weather the winter with limited resources, participants are drawn into a cultural education experience and are encouraged to incorporate the things that make them feel safe, secure and protected, into their artwork. Students will learn to draw then paint onto canvas board while building an understanding of symbols, colours and wildlife in other Anishinaabe works. All materials included.
