Resident Groups

Humber Valley Art Club has enjoyed a long and rich history in the visual arts since its founding in Etobicoke in 1951.  It offers a diversity of classes and workshops in watercolour, acrylic and multi-media for  artists at all skill levels.  We provide a welcoming milieu in which to meet other artists, share ideas and expand your skills.  Since 1993, HVAC has been a Resident Group at Neilson Park Creative Centre. 

Humber Valley Art Club is a not-for-profit group providing instruction in watercolour, acrylic and oil painting in the spacious Studio A at Neilson Park Creative Centre. We welcome students at all levels in their creative journey.

Humber Valley Art Club (HVAC) has enjoyed a lengthy and rich history in the visual arts since its founding in Etobicoke in 1951.  A Resident Group at NPCC since 1993, we offer an exciting diversity of Monday half-day classes and Wednesday full-day workshops in watercolour, acrylic and oil for artists at all skill levels.  In addition to our in-person courses, Zoom classes with master artists are enjoyed during winter months.  Our instructional season extends from September to May. 

Our club takes special pleasure in welcoming newcomers to watercolour painting and providing them with step-by-step instruction to ensure success in small group settings.

Benefits of Membership in HVAC & NPCC:

HVAC members enjoy the opportunity to showcase their paintings in two annual shows, the Members Choice Exhibition in November, followed in the spring by our Annual Juried Exhibition which includes a Reception and Awards Ceremony.  In the fall we enjoy socializing with fellow members at a buffet luncheon at our AGM, while in December members are invited to celebrate the season at a special Festive Holiday Luncheon. 

NPCC membership has many perks, including a 10% discount at a variety of art stores and free admission to participating galleries when presenting your NPCC membership card.  Many other benefits such as open-studio  painting opportunities are listed on the NPCC membership page.

Annual memberships (September to August) in both HVAC & NPCC are required in order to participate in all HVAC courses and social activities.  However we are happy to waive membership fees for newcomers who wish to “Give Us a Try” by signing up for a chosen series of classes or workshops, upon request to our Registrar.  Come and join the fun, socialize with fellow artists and nurture your creative spirit in this gorgeous park setting.
