In this one-day workshop, you’ll learn the encaustic monotype printmaking process and techniques. You’ll work with encaustic paint on a heated palette and pull prints on heritage Washi (specialty paper). We’ll explore a range of mark-making tools to move and shape the wax on the plate, with plenty of hands-on time to experiment. Ruth Maude is an Etobicoke-based artist, blogger, web designer, and instructor. She is also a key organizer of the annual Canadian Encaustic Conference, a gathering that fosters connection and learning within the encaustic art world. Ruth’s work is included the Museum of Encaustic Art (MoEA) in New Mexico and held in private collections across Canada and the U.S. Participants may choose to bring Encaustic paints and Washi paper for their own use. Materials fee $50.00, paid directly to the instructor. Cash or e-transfer accepted.
