Expanding on Natural Forms – Interpreting Landscape in Acrylic

Thursday, January 21 to Thursday, February 18, 2027
1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Sessions: 5 Thursdays
Instructor: Ellee SY Lee
Level: All Levels
Location: At Centre

In this course, Artist Ellee Sy Lee shares her intuition-driven process, focusing on the interplay of colour, line, mark-making, and shifting perspectives. Students will be introduced to key painting concepts and techniques, including push and pull, flatness and texture, colour harmony, composition, layering, and reconfiguration. Through demonstration and guided exercises, students will learn to challenge traditional approaches to painting, navigate the space between memory and imagination, and create paintings that are both visually compelling and deeply personal. Ellee is a Korean-Canadian painter known for her imaginary, semi-abstract landscape that evokes a sense of mysticism, dreaminess, and reflection, blurring the boundaries between Western and Eastern artistic traditions. Her work has been showcased in numerous art fairs and exhibitions over the past several years. For a materials list, please check our website.
