Every surface carries a history. Inspired by the Surrealist technique of frottage, participants will collect images directly from the textures around them using graphite, wax and rubbing techniques. Wood grain, leaves, fabric, mesh and found objects become an archive of physical traces. These fragments will then be cropped, layered and transformed into atmospheric drawings that explore memory, touch and the hidden visual life of ordinary things. Artist Instructor Veronika, MFA, will provide plenty of examples, support, hands-on demonstrations and guidance as participants explore this wonderful artform.
