Kiln Fired Clay Pottery, Surface Design Techniques

This workshop begins with hand-build construction techniques to create a suitable surface for embellishment, the main focus of the class. Students will learn from the best as Shiva demonstrates and supports with step-by-step instruction in etching, embossment, stamping, slip trailing, carving, inlaying and resist methods. Students will be able to select from single glaze colour swatches that will be applied off site and pottery will be made available for pick up at NPCC after kiln firing. Materials supplied by instructor for in-session use include tools, implements and clay. A fee of $20 per student for 2 lbs. of clay, kiln firing and glaze is to be paid in cash directly to the instructor at the start of each class as supplies are required.
