Learn how to build movement into your artwork by using simple mechanisms. Kinetic artist and retired auto mechanic Harry Kooy has been making and exhibiting sculptures since 2012 using steel, copper, brass, stone, and wood to the delight of many gallery and art festival goers. In this workshop, participants will learn to build a simple hand cranked mechanism artwork to serve as inspiration to further explore basic catalysts for movement in art. Students will also have the chance to make a beautiful wire tree sculpture to develop wire manipulation skills and structural techniques. All building tools will be provided for use in class and a small kit including mechanism building items and wire will be available for purchase at the start of class directly from the instructor. $20, cash accepted.
