Create loose and expressive artworks of Southern Ontario scenery using the brilliant, blend-able and spontaneous medium of soft pastel. This forgiving medium is great for beginner painters and offers satisfying results. Students will learn how to capture different landscape scenes, seasons and lighting conditions typical to the region. Maria will also teach techniques such as underpainting, layering, blending and colour mixing through both demonstration and supporting the students in practice. The class will cover the important elements of a successful composition: values, perspective, harmony, integration, texture and depth. Maria Iva is a Master Pastelist, Pastel Artists Canada with Eminent Circle (MPAC-EP).
