In this open media portraiture course students will explore painting and/or drawing fundamentals over 8 classes. Short presentations and discussions on the history of portraiture will focus on supporting skills development and research in mark-making, composition, and colour relationships. Weekly study will look at portraits by a broad selection of artists, including David Hockney, Chuck Close, and Alex Katz and will include demonstrations, critiques, and the exploration of a variety of media.
