Silk Painting – Exploring Style and Technique

In this beginner silk painting workshop participants get to explore style and technique over three lovely sessions with Shiva. Learn how colours interact using the wet-in-wet technique and how varied drying times allow for variety in effect, experiment with salt effects on silk, and learn the resist method for a completely different look. Enjoy creating both wearable accessories and framable art using an embroidery hoop to stretch your silk and your imagination! You will paint your designs with special silk dyes to for luscious vibrant colour and will also participate in the drying and setting process for each project. Come prepared with a design in mind, or we can offer a variety of designs for you to start your work. A materials kit is to be purchased directly from the instructor on the first day of the session, $25 per person, no HST. Cash accepted. Kit includes silk pieces, use of dyes, and other related supplies. Students are welcome to bring their own hairdryer to speed the drying process. For a materials list, please check our website.
