Etobicoke Handweavers & Spinners Guild…60 Years in the Making!

Experience the rich vibrant creativity of sixty years of textile artistry!

EHS where artists, fibre, ancient craft traditions, and inspiration become

INTERTWINED

We invite you to the Etobicoke Handweavers & Spinners Guild (EHS) 60th Anniversary Exhibit, INTERTWINED, in the Art Space Connect Gallery at Neilson Park Creative Centre from March 3 to 21, 2026.

INTERTWINED features the rich creativity and varied artistic skills of our members past and present through a series of collaborative installations and individual pieces.

Embark on a tour of textural delights.

Marvel at the intricacies of the showcase piece, Diamond Jubilee. A collection of four inch squares handcrafted by EHS members melded together to create a commemorative wall hanging.

Meander along the Ribbon of Celebration,  a 24 foot long collage of weaving and knitting samples. The ribbon flows from the founder’s panel and honors the thirteen women that came together to form the guild in 1966.

Stroll through a lush jungle of fibre foliage in the Garden of Inspiration. A collaboration of hanging oversized felt, knit and crocheted flowers and leaves suspended on vines. A celebration of colour and of new growth.

Roam the points of the compass and discover the works of individual artists on the north and south walls, and group projects on the west and east walls.

Venture into a fully functioning Weaving and Spinning Studio. Take the opportunity to try weaving on a floor loom.

Drift into the Knit Nook, a knitter’s dream living room vignette created by the knit study group members.

Savor the extras: the 2025 Spinning Challenge,  Socks; a collection of Sheep to Shawl pieces from past Royal Winter Fair competitions; and weaving study group, Keep Me Warm One Night pieces.

Experience spinning, knitting, lacemaking, flax processing and rigid heddle weaving demonstrations. A list of scheduled demonstrations is posted on EHS’ website, www.ehsguild.com

We hope you will find time to explore the world of textiles with us, be a part of our celebration of fibre art and friends.
