Lithuanian UNESCO-Recognized Intangible Cultural Heritage and Contemporary Interpretations
February 17 to March 5, 2027
Location: Art Space Connect Gallery
Presented by: Embassy Of The Republic Of Lithuania To Canada
Reception: TBA
The purpose of the traveling exhibition Versmės (Springs) is to introduce audiences worldwide to Lithuania’s unique intangible cultural heritage — its enduring vitality, relevance, and ability to inspire new generations of creators and viewers. The exhibition also presents the concept of the upcoming 2028 Lithuanian Song Celebration.
The display features the works and heritage of traditional masters – cross-crafting, altars, straw garden crafts, recordings of sutartinės, and audiovisual footage of the Lithuanian Song Celebration. This section provides the historical foundation for the contemporary artistic interpretations presented alongside it.
The exhibition allows visitors to experience these values as a living, dynamic, and relevant phenomenon in a multi-sensory space where
images, sounds, scents, and tastes merge.
